Flores De Colores, the Official Cinco De Mayo Ambassadors for Cheyenne, Wyoming, is a Mexican folkloric dance group that was  founded by Danelle Moyte seven years ago as a sixteen year old attending Central High School.  In the past seven years,  Flores De Colores has grown into a group of over  twenty dancers with varying cultural, economic and social backgrounds.  The goal of the dance troupe is to teach young students teamwork and dedication while preparing them to entertain and share the Mexican-American culture with the community.  Responsibility, hard work and commitment are also practiced, while at the same time having fun performing community service.  The cultural dances that are performed come from various parts of Mexico and the different colors in the costumes represent the many different celebrations.

We have been together since April of 2002 and work to reach a long-term goal of expanding our dances to a variety of regions in Mexico.  We currently represent the states of Jalisco, Baja California Norte, Veracruz, Chihuahua, Sinaloa and Chiapas. Another one of our goals is experiencing and sharing dancing all over the states.

Flores De Colores attended the Festival including the workshops, competition, and performance in Las Vegas , Nevada in June of 2005 and July of 2008.  In 2005 Flores De Colores competed in Las Vegas they received first place in the small group division out of fourteen (14) competitors, in the novice category.  In 2008, Flores De Colores received 3rd place for soloist Jayla performing Veracruz, 3rd place duet for Yvette and Precious performing Baja California Norte, 3rd place small group (ages 12-14) performing Jalisco and 1st place small group (ages 5-12) performing Baja California Norte; also receiving the director a special award for most impressive to judges and performing above their age levels. Thank you Irene Hernandez!

The high-spirited dancers of Flores de Colores fascinate the audience by presenting a variety of traditional folkloric dances. Pride and a variation of color add a festive spark to this performance.
